Glamour shopping day

Hi my friends! Yesterday the magazine Glamour was hosting a shopping day with lots of cool discounts in many shops. Great reason for me to shop (as if I need one...)! I came home with lots of accesories and a very cool bag that I have had my eye on for a while.

Switzerland in pictures: Waterfall at Lauterbrunnen

Hi my friends! I am really excited to be sharing my first batch of pictures from my holiday with you. All these pictures were taken at the city of Lauterbrunnen.

Switzerland is famous for their amazing woodcarving. Isn't this beautiful?

Switzerland has also caught up on the retro craze. These cards are awesome.

I love the hills and valleys of Switzerland. And the mountains...oh boy! More coming soon my friends!!

Liebster award

The lovely Angie from Sundaybelle has given me the Liebster Award. Now how sweet is that! To tell you a bit more about this award: The Liebster Blog Award is given from blogger to blogger – meant for bloggers who have less than 200 followers. The Meaning; Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome.
With this award comes a list of 11 questions that I have to answer. So here goes! These are the questions Angie has come up with for me:

1. Milk, dark, white or no chocolate? Milk chocolate if my favourite!
2. What is your favourite kind of shoe? Heels, but only to look at. I can hardly walk in them.
3. What is your favourite thing about blogging? Meeting new, wonderful people and sharing my passion for the things I love.
4. If you could switch lives with any fictional character, who would it be? Woodstock, the bird from the Snoopy series. That is just a cool bird and I loved Snoopy as a kid.
5. Coffee, tea, chocolate or both? Tea and chocolate please!
6. Do you have a style icon? No, not really. My style tends to vary alot, I just go with whatever looks and feels right at the time.
7. Cats or dogs? Dogs for sure, not a catperson.
8. Do you wear nail polish? Fingers, toes or both? I do, usually on both my fingernails and toenails.
9. Have you ever broken a bone? Thankfully no, never been a wild child haha.
10. What do you eat for breakfast? Two slices of bread, one with honey and one with peanutbutter.
11. If you found a genie in a bottle, which 3 wishes would you want fulfilled? I would want to go to New Zealand with my family, have my own candy and icecreamshop, own a nice big home with a garden (ok, I do have a home with a garden, but it is a rental haha).

Thanks again to Angie for this award! Now it is my turn to nominate. I would like to give this award to Kelsea at Pink Wonderland. From the very start Kelsea has been very supportive of me and my blog. And she is just an awesome person! So congrats my friend, I hope you enjoy this award! :o)
Now for my 11 questions.....oh boy...
1. Your first pet was?
2. What's you favourite outfit?
3. What you your perfect day look like?
4. What is your favourite season?
5. What were you like as a kid?
6. What is you favourite song to sing along to?
7. Where in the world would you like to go on holiday?
8. What's your worst habit?
9. What's your favourite tv show?
10. Do you prefer rain in summer or sun in winter?
11. When are you happiest?

Now for something else: tomorrow I will post my first batch of pictures from Switzerland!!

What's coming up this fall

Hi my friends! As promised here is a post about the things I have planned for the blog in the months of fall. It's some exciting stuff, which I hope you will like just as much as I do!

* Fall themed posts.
What to do, what to eat and what to wear this fall. The colours of fall are also a big inspiration for these posts.

* Halloween posts
With Halloween coming up, I would like to share some fun recipes for this fun day!

* Blogger of the month features
So many talented and lovely bloggers out there, every month I will highlight one special blogger.

* A new snail mail exchange
In the early start of my blog I hosted my first snail mail exchange, with lots of positive feedback and comments as a result. So with a new season upon us, a new snail mail exchange can't be far away!

*Creative challenges
Every week I will post a fun creative challenge for all my followers to participate in. Nothing to hard or challenging, but just a cool way of being creative with each other. It can be through photography, artjournaling, drawing. Each week a different challenge will be presented. Results will be shared here in this blog too!

I look forward to the fall season and hope you are sharing these months here with me on my blog!

Back from Switzerland!

Hi my friends!! After a two week holiday to Switzerland, I am back in the cold Dutch country haha. I had a wonderful time in the beautiful mountains of Switzerland, enjoyed the bright green/blue lakes, ate very tasty cakes, endured 24 hours of rain non stop, had bright sunshine, climbed a mountain on a train, visited an awesome zoo, saw the most beautiful flowers....yes, it was a good one!! I will be posting many pictures in the days to come. But to give you a little sneek peek, here are some pictures of my trip.

Tomorrow I will post an entry with what is to come on my blog this fall. And I have some exciting things coming up, so be sure to stay tuned for that. It's good to be back!

Guest post: Dutch poem by Angie

Hi dear readers of Even Sweeter Dreams, this is Angie here! I usually blog over at Sunday Belle, but today I’m guest posting for Susie. I have a lot of trouble with doing guest posts. I mean, it needs to fit the other person’s blog, and Susie and my blog are vastly different! The one thing she and I have in common though is the fact that we both are from the Netherlands. So, why not write about that? The picture below is actually a card by Susie, it’s the gorgeous card she sent me in her recent snail mail exchange.

Now, I started compiling a list of ‘why the Netherlands is awesome’ and all that I could come up with was this:

Yes, I know. So I thought I’d make it a little bit more personal. I am currently studying English Language & Culture, obviously because I love the English language. But Dutch language is quite special, too! What I really like is, trying to translate a Dutch poem into English and still capturing the essence. Here is one interpreted by me for you, it’s originally by Toon Hermans (who was a famous Dutch artist). I chose one about dreams to fit in with the title of this blog.

Dromen zijn bedrog
toch is het oprecht
om es wat te dromen
wat je nooit aan iemand zegt
Weg van deze aarde
ver weg van het volk
'n poosje zalig varen
op 'n stille witte wolk
En als je weer terug bent
met de beentjes op de grond
lekker niemand zeggen waar je was
en hoe je ’t vond
Dreams are only an illusion
and still it is sincere
to have a little dream once in a while
and not share it with anyone
Away from this earth
away from the people
blissfully drifting
on a quiet white cloud
And when you return
With your feet back on the ground
not telling anyone where you went
and how you liked it

I thought it was appropriate because Susie’s blog is full of inspirational stuff. I hope you liked it!
Love, Angie

Thanks so much Angie! Isn't that a beautiful poem? I love it! I hope you will stop by Angie's blog at Sunday Belle and say hi to her, she is a doll!

Alice in Wonderland

I had never been a big fan of the Alice in Wonderland movies (like the animated one!) Untill the Tim Burton movie with Johnny Depp actually. I loved the special effects and Johnny was awesome as always.

I also love the drawings in the book.

Since then many people have been inspired by the story of Alice. From party in Alice theme's:
To beautiful artwork out of paper!
Don't you just love it when a story and /or movie inspires people to be creative?!

My icecream dream

I go online for inspiration alot, especially when it comes to my icecream dream. My what? You can read all about this in a post a made earlier, about opening a shop of my own. It's great to visualise this dream and get ideas from cool vintage posters or pretty pictures. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

Guest post: Prettier shoeboxes by Kelsea

Hi! I'm Kelsea, the blogger over at Pink Wonderland. First, I want to say thank you so much to Susie for the opportunity to guest post today. Susie is one of the sweetest bloggers around, and I love visiting Even Sweeter Dreams for inspiration! Plus, I am in love with that dreamy background/banner.

For those of you who haven't heard of Pink Wonderland, it's a relatively new blog that I created to share a few of my interests and promote some of the amazing talent I come across in the world of independent artists and small businesses. If you choose to visit, expect to find plenty of bright colors, handmade goods, food, artwork, outfits, and artist interviews.

Today, I want to share a little repurposing project with all of you. I have always been a bit of a hoarder - I love collecting things, and I have a hard time parting with anything pretty, whether it's cool packaging, a cute thank you card from an indie shop, stickers, pieces of colorful tissue paper from gifts, even well-designed business cards... I just hate throwing pretty things away. I also love storage. I do tons of crafts and I am constantly reorganizing my supply stash. The combination of these two qualities means my stack of supplies is constantly growing, as is the cost of housing it.

I used to keep some supplies in plain shoe boxes with a description scrawled on in Sharpie, but I always disliked the look. Hated hiding my supplies away just because I didn't like the box. So one day, I thought... why not decorate them?

Those little bits and pieces I had saved up finally had a use. For my mixed media supply box, I glued on a jelly bean scrapbook paper page as the background. I cut out the packaging from a dried fruit snack box and stuck it on my new mixed media box. Added a postcard from my favorite cupcake shop and some stickers, tissue paper, and other bits.

I also decorated shoeboxes to house the inventory from my jewelry shops. In addition to decorating each box to match the style of the relevant shop, I stuck on business cards to make it really easy to identify which was which.

For tissue paper organization, it seemed easiest to group them by color. What better way to explain which color is inside the box than to add some to the top?

I have plenty more of these decorated boxes at home - once you start the first box, it gets to be pretty addicting! Fun project and a great way to reuse those little leftover scraps you just can't bear to toss. At least that's how it goes in my world. =) If you decide to decorate any boxes of your own, please share them with me! I would love to see how they turn out.

Thanks again to Susie for having me on the blog today. I hope to see some of you in Wonderland!

Thank you Kelsea for this wonderful post! I hope you will all take a look at her great blog Pink in Wonderland. Kelsea is an awesome blogger and a very creative girl, I am sure you will love her as much as I do!

A day at the beach

Some weeks ago, I went to a lovely festival that was literally on the beach. I took many pictures of one of my favourite subjects: the ocean. I hope you enjoy these! Have a lovely day my friends.

Off to Switzerland!

Hi my friends, this saturday I will be leaving for Switzerland for two weeks, so I won't update that often. I have some posts scheduled and two great guestposts! So be sure to stay around for that. If I find the time, I will do an update from Switzerland, but mostly I will be enjoying the awesome view.

I will be staying with my parents in the city of Interlaken, near two great lakes. And with a view on three of the biggest mountains in Switzerland called Jungfrau, Monch and Eiger. Be sure to expect many pictures when I get back! Untill then, have a great two weeks and check back every now and then for some posts I have planned along the way.
