How to: the perfect High Tea

Is there anything better than a High Tea? Lovely pot of hot tea, with small sandwhiches on a tray and ofcourse lots of sweet goodies. Really, to me there is nothing better than high tea. I am a total tea-addict. And chocolate-addict. I wouldn't refuse a scone too, or a cupcake. Well you get what I am saying! So here I present you a small and easy 'how to' for the perfect high tea experience!

To me, the perfect high tea has the perfect balance of sweet and savory. But a high tea wouldn't be a proper high tea if it didn't include the very British scones! Served with clotted cream, strawberryjam/ lemon curd.
For the sweet section I always love a good cupcake, some small chocolate bonbons and some lovely sugar cookies. Small portions of cake are also a good addition. For an added healthy snack, you could add fresh strawberries.
The savory part of a high tea always includes a selection of small sandwhiches with a range of flavours. I always love a sandwhich with smoked salmon and cream cheese.
But for a fun option you can also try savory muffins, with salmon and dried herbs (like dille). Or muffins with bacon!
Complete the savory section with some lovely fruit, like grapes and mini quiches.
Bring out your best china, get some fresh flowers and put them in a vase as a nice centrepiece! Bring out your best teapot, gather all the teabags you have. I love a combination of fruity flavours, like strawberry or mango. But don't forget the British Earl Grey, the ultimate high tea flavour! Enjoy!!

Day in Amsterdam: shopping and Game of Thrones.

Hi everyone! Are you enjoying your weekend? I had a great day yesterday, visiting my best friend who lives in Amsterdam. She just had her birthday so we were having a tea to celebrate and I gave her some gifts. Luckily the sun was shining, so we could sit outside. It was very busy in Amsterdam, as it always is. Many tourists with suitcases walking through the streets. Especially near the coffeshops. Me and my friend did some shopping at the local vintageshops. I love vintageshops!

This whole week, there is a Game of Thrones exhibition in Amsterdam. Me being a big fan of the series I thought I would take this chance while I was in Amsterdam anyway! There was a long line and the sun was already beind the clouds for the most part. In the end me and my friend had to wait in line for an hour, but it was well worth it. The exhibition was amazing! Alot of the costumes from the series actors were there and lots of props and swords. In real life you can se the stunning details on the costumes. I sqealed the whole time, little screams of joy hahaha.

Sweet fashion finds for summer

Hi all! I hope you had a lovely week so far. Mine has been quite calm. And the weather has been insanely bad. The only good news (or great news): I have booked a citytrip to Prague! I will tell more about that in a future post. For now I will show you some fashion finds that are just too cute not to share!

A Bambi skirt! Oh my, it's so cute! Unfortunately the link on Pinterest gets me nowhere, so I still have to know where this is from. Anyone happen to know? Modcloth maybe?

A teacupdress. That has Susie all over it! It's a Modcloth, and pure perfection. Agree?

This teal (don't you love teal?!) dress is from Urban Outfitters. A supercute summerdress. I love the lace!

This long and flowery dress is so dreamy! I think I could wear it all day, every day and feel so pretty in it! I want summer, and sunshine! I am so ready, with these dresses I am summerproof :)
What about you? Do you have a favourite summerlook?

Never too old to dream a new dream.

I really love this quote from C.S. Lewis. And it is oh so true! I always love setting goals for myself and I really work hard to make my dreams and goals come true. Sometimes you can only take small steps towards a dream, but then again: every step, is one step closer right?!
From age 24 to age 29 I was a musicjournalist, always on the road and off to shows or doing interviews. Especially in summertime, which is festivalseason, I would have no weekend off as I was always out writing reviews or speaking to the artists performing there. And I loved it soooo much, It really was my life! Music was my life. Besides the writing, I would also coach two bands as a manager. I would arrange press and shows for them. So if I wasn't writing about music, I was being a musicmanager. Kinda crazy huh?!
Now, at age 30, I work at a bakery and baking has become my new passion in life. If someone told me this when I was 26 I would not believe it! But now, I really love it. I want to become better and better at baking and make it my hobby and job at the same time. You're never too old to dream a new dream, so right! I always thought that I would be a musicjournalist for life, or at least work in the musicindustry forever. But I love what I do now! And I am so happy that I took this new route in life. Yeah, it can be scary at first and I had my moments where I doubted my decision, but I am so happy I am where I am today. Music is still a big part of my life, and one of my passions. But I know that it is a tought world to work in, the musicindustry is one filled with ego's. I want to make people happy with what I do, and what better way then to bake cakes! Courage is always rewarded, so go after that dream, even if you take small steps! You will get there!

Tearoom inspiration: signs

Hi everyone! I am always on the look out for inspiration for my someday to exist tearoom! Right now I am thinking of signs, or a look for a logo. I thought of a name, but I am going to keep that to myself for now. I scrolled the net and saw some really fun ideas. It would be perfect for me if I could mix vintage with a more modern feel. And I am a sucker for soft pastel colours.

I also love the look of the signs from the lovely English tearooms! They have such a long history and the signs are really beautiful.I have to visit England again soon, I would love to visit some tearooms there! What about you? Do they have tearooms where you life? And have you ever visited one?

Happy mother's day!

My dad brought her a big bouqet of flowers. My sister, nephew and brother in law where also there, with gifts! So it was a great and fun day for my mum.
I love you mummie!
In March me and my mum went to Venice, which was a dream for my mum for as long as I can remember. I am still so happy I got to share this with her! Hopefully we will have many more moments like this!

Cookies and cupcakes

Hi everyone. Finally my high temperature and throat infection are as good as gone. Still have a crazy cough, but hopefully that will be gone soon as well. Meanwhile I still have been baking. You know me, I just have to bake! The bakery that I work at is closed for 3 weeks, as my two bosses are away on holiday. So I bake even more at home. These last days I made vanilla cupcakes for my sisters birthday and some lovely cookies covered in chocolate.

Last week I also made a lovely chocolatecake with macademianuts and a chocolate icing. My improved bakingskills are great, but not so much for my weight hahaha. I have to work out some more to compensate all the yummie goods! Have a good day all!

Holy unicorn farts!!

Hi everyone! I have been absent from the blog for a week, I have been sick for a few days now. Luckily I still got to enjoy some of the Queensday fun and went on a lunch with a friend. Friday I worked at the bakery and made a load of mini cheesecakes and some hello dollies (coconut and chocolate bars). Then in the weekend I got fever and a throatinfection, yippee. And now the weather is soooo nice, I cannot enjoy it! Hopefully the weather will stay nice for a while to come. On another note, you might blinked twice when you saw the title of this blogpost.... I just saw this picture online and had to post.
How weird and cute is that?!? A lipbalm that smells like unicorn farts. I wonder what that will smell like hahaha. Unfortunately this lipbalm is sold out. But in case it comes back in stock, you can buy it here. If you do, let me know what it smells like!! Have a great day everyone.
