How to: the perfect High Tea

Is there anything better than a High Tea? Lovely pot of hot tea, with small sandwhiches on a tray and ofcourse lots of sweet goodies. Really, to me there is nothing better than high tea. I am a total tea-addict. And chocolate-addict. I wouldn't refuse a scone too, or a cupcake. Well you get what I am saying! So here I present you a small and easy 'how to' for the perfect high tea experience!

To me, the perfect high tea has the perfect balance of sweet and savory. But a high tea wouldn't be a proper high tea if it didn't include the very British scones! Served with clotted cream, strawberryjam/ lemon curd.
For the sweet section I always love a good cupcake, some small chocolate bonbons and some lovely sugar cookies. Small portions of cake are also a good addition. For an added healthy snack, you could add fresh strawberries.
The savory part of a high tea always includes a selection of small sandwhiches with a range of flavours. I always love a sandwhich with smoked salmon and cream cheese.
But for a fun option you can also try savory muffins, with salmon and dried herbs (like dille). Or muffins with bacon!
Complete the savory section with some lovely fruit, like grapes and mini quiches.
Bring out your best china, get some fresh flowers and put them in a vase as a nice centrepiece! Bring out your best teapot, gather all the teabags you have. I love a combination of fruity flavours, like strawberry or mango. But don't forget the British Earl Grey, the ultimate high tea flavour! Enjoy!!
